Company Background
Hampson Haulage was set up in 1982 by Clive Hampson as a provider of transportation solutions to the steel industry. The company was initially located at the Warwick Road Trading Estate in Greet for it's first 7 years. During those early years his father Reg and mother Jean assisted in the day to day running of the company.
Hampson Haulage moved to its current facility (part of the former GKN works) on Grove Lane in Smethwick in 1989, allowing it to be better able to service the large number of Black Country companies forming the majority of the client base.
The depot the company moved into was well known by Clive as he had previously been transport manager for GKN before their closure in the same place. Accordingly he knew that the premises would very suitably meet the requirements for a haulage company, including diesel pumps, a vehicle wash and pits to allow for the servicing of the vehicles to take place on site. His name was still on the office door when the company moved in.
In Mar 2004, Clives son Paul joined him in the running of the family business, something that Clive had been after for a number of years. Between them the company is running from strength to strength.
Our Services
We are a family run General Haulage contractor, based in Smethwick in the heart of the country just off J1 of the M5. With a varied fleet of 16 vehicles we are able to provide reliable transportation solutions for all types of load.
We specialise in offering a dedicated reliable transportation solution to individual companies whatever the load or destination at a fair price including returns when required. We can also offer part and return loads when possible. We are able to provide short and long term storage at our secure depot for customers if required.
Vehicles are available for one off trips or on a contract basis depending on the customer requirement. We undertake early morning, daytime, and late evening trunk vehicles for a number of our major clients. Contract vehicles offer the opportunity for long term relationships at extremely competitive rates.
We are active members of the Road Haulage Association and operate under their term and conditions of carriage 1998 (or as amended) to ensure quality of service. Through the Rha local area meetings we take a close and active interest in keeping the Haulage Industry effective for our clients requirements.
